The Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) has recognised the 5-star rating given to the Volvo S60 sedan by Europe's safety body and awarded the Volvo car the same top result.
While the Euro NCAP criteria are substantially the same as ANCAP testing procedures, it is common for the Australasian arm to release its own results - however in the case of the Volvo S60 sedan, the overseas results have been deemed acceptable.
The five-cylinder diesel Volvo S60 sedan achieved a total 36.34 out of a possible 37 points in the Euro NCAP crash tests.
The car was also awarded the maximum points in the side impact test, as well as 15.34 out of 16 in the offset crash test.
Safety is a key focus in the Volvo S60 sedan, with dual front airbags, side airbags and head-protecting side curtains are all featured as standard.
The marque's unique City Safety feature also comes as standard and provides an additional element to driver and passenger safety, calculating the distance and speed of the car immediately ahead of you and engaging the brakes if a crash appears to be imminent.
The Volvo S60 is currently in stock at Peter Warren Automotive. Visit this Volvo dealership in Sydney to test drive the Volvo car.
